Ad Astra Per Comitas

NOAA + GOES Receiver

The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) focuses on provided free, open source planetary data to the public. One way they achive this is through weather satellite broadcasting image data on public radio channels. By constructing our own omnidirectional antenna, we were able to successfully capture, decode, and colorize multiple images.

Similarly, the NOAA provides larger, higher resolution images of the Earth from their geostationary GOES satellites, though they require higher power receivers to effectively read. In recent months, we've purchased the nessessary antenna. However, GOES-18, the most visible GOES, is currently being replaced with GOES-West, and is temporarily down. We eagerly await its completion.
